FACTION: LIVE in SAN FRANCISCO at the 2nd annual ICER AIR!

The best and the brightest from the worlds of skiing and snowboarding came together on Saturday to get big air by the bay, at AT&T PARK in SAN FRANCISCO for the 2nd ANNUAL ICER AIR.

TULLY and ROOFTOP were there covering all the action live, and here's some of the pics they came back with. (Rooftop took some sweet hi-res shots with his camera, but then he lost it in a cab, so we're making due with these.)

A specially created jump. Drop in in center field, and land around second base. Hopefully.

Page Hamilton dropped by Tully's show on Friday to share some good news: Helmet lost a couple members a few weeks back, but Page reports that the band is back to full strength, and ready to hit the road for a headlining tour this winter.

After that, for his Hostile Takeover, Page kicked Tully out of the studio, locked the door, and became the first man to ever rock classical music and Thelonious Monk on Faction.

So, Faction late-night maestro Cullen was at Social Distortion in N.Y. over the weekend, and on the way out he saw homeboy here rooting through the trash.



Apparently dude dropped his switchblade in there for safekeeping before the show, and figured he could just grab it on the way out. No word on whether his brilliant plot to avoid security and save $3 on coat check worked, but just to be on the safe side, if you're in New York, don't go picking a fight with anyone that smells like garbage.

WARPED PICS: part deux

OK, OK, here's the rest of the Warped pics. You will notice these are much better than the first batch, thanks entirely to Tully's special co-host in L.A. and Sacramento, Heidi Cortez from Howard 100.

L.A. kinda sucked – too hot and way too much of a scene. All you need to see is Heidi getting one of her periodic ice-downs, in the capable hands of our good buddy Rooftop.



Then it was on to Sacramento. Actually, Marysville, about 40 miles from Sac. ACTUALLY, a couple of miles outside of Marysville. I don't want to say the show was in the middle of nowhere, but here's a shot of the crowd Tully encountered when he missed the entrance to the show.




Rolling with Cortez opened many doors. (That's why most of these pics are on tour buses with bigtime rock stars.) And that was probably for the best, since your hosts were boozing liberally, and open containers were apparently a no-no that day.

It was freaking hot in the greater Marysville area. Tully and the Heidster had no choice but to duck into the Warped backstage shower area.

WARPED WEEK (and a half) CONTINUES ON FACTION

Tully sent in some pics from the road, as he gets his Warped on, up and down the California coast.

In San Diego, Warped goes down right next to a water park. It was at least 90 degrees, all day, in the sun. Tully wanted to strangle the happy giggling children on this slide.



Less Than Jake in San Diego. Yeah, we know this picture sucks. Trust us, it’s Less Than Jake. More importantly, what do you call the move that the girl is performing on the dude in the crowd with his shirt off? Is that even legal in public?



In Pomona. A horse-racing track 364 days a year, but for one day only, the home of Warped.



Everyone’s favorite Warped hotspot when it’s over a hundred degrees: The SHADE Tent.



Cali mountains behind the main stage in Pomona.



Street Drum Corps’ totally wicked set-up.



San Francisco. On the water, underneath a bridge. Amazing.



Tully and Brian from the Bouncing Souls, with matching tattoos. They will battle to the death, over your mom.

Joan Jett – the queen bee of Warped 2006 – rocking in Fresno.



A typical menu of Warped food for bands and crew. Now I know it’s 2006, and punk bands don’t all live on heroin and beer anymore, but really guys, chipotle glazed salmon?



The cafeteria in Fresno. Basically, at some point, someone decided that they would have the bands play outside, in the 110 degree heat, so that they could save the inside of the arena for something REALLY important, like a mess hall. Thanks Warped!



Suffice it to say, the Warped crew are not the gnarliest bunch that ever hit Ventura.



Spotted on the Shira Girl stage in Ventura. Since Tully can never delete this image from his mind, no matter how hard he tries, he figured he would share it with everybody else.

ELLIS DOES THE LOOP!!!

Not many have tried it... and of those that have, many have suffered MAJOR injuries. It's one of the most dangerous things you can do on a skateboard... THE LOOP.

Our very own Jason Ellis gave it a shot.

FACTION at the Playboy Mansion

Faction DJ's Tully and Debbie Hernandez hit the Playboy Mansion on Sunday for the Gumball 3000 afterparty. To be honest, it really wasn't all that - the Euro Gumball drivers WAY outnumbered the hot chicks - but we snapped a few pics, to prove we were there.
